Notes:
U.S. captain Julie Foudy recorded the 200th cap of her international career in this match joining teammates Kristine Lilly (226) and Mia Hamm (217) as the only players in the history of the game to reach that milestone.

Canada opened the scoring in the 15th minute when Kristina Kiss sent a free kick from the left flank into the penalty box where Andrea Neil fired a header on frame. Jaime Pagliarulo stopped Neil's shot, but could only watch as Charmaine Hooper netted the rebound from two yards out.

The U.S. tied the match in the 28th minute when Mia Hamm took a quick free kick after being fouled. Hamm knocked the ball to Shannon MacMillan on the left flank. MacMillan cut inside to lose her defender hitting a skipping shot past Taryn Swiatek, the Canadian goalkeeper.

In the 57th minute, the U.S. went ahead as a Cindy Parlow pass sent Tiffeny Milbrett in alone on Swiatek. Milbrett, seeing Swiatek off her line, nailed a shot from 32 yards into the upper right corner.

The U.S. lead was short lived as Canada equalized a minute later. Pagliarulo attempted to come out and punch away a ball that had bounced in the middle of the penalty box, but barely got a finger on the ball. Christine Sinclair corralled the bouncing ball and hit it from eight yards out into the back of the net.

The crowd of 9,023 was the largest to ever watch a women's soccer match in Canada.
