Notes:
In the 18th minute, goalkeeper Siri Mullinix came 35 yards off her line to clear the ball, driving the ball 50 yards up the field. With two Norwegian defenders on her tail, Tiffeny Milbrett chased after the ball. Milbrett, with her blazing speed, reached the ball first and fired a shot from 15 yards out that Norwegian goalkeeper Bente Nordby got a piece of but the ball squirted past her giving Milbrett another chance. From a sharp angle seven yards out, Milbrett deposited the ball into an empty net. The goal was the 80th of Milbrett's international career.
Six minutes later Kristine Lilly at the top of the 18-yard box chipped a pass over Norway's backline freeing Mia Hamm on the left side of the box. Hamm's shot from 10 yards out settled into the left corner.
Milbrett hit all three pieces of woodwork in the match. In the 40th minute, she powered a blast off of the left post. Then right before halftime she dialed up another long distance shot, this one from 20 yards out, that nailed the underside of the crossbar and harmlessly caroomed off the right post.
In other Group F action, China defeated Nigeria, 3-1.
