Notes:
Julie Foudy, making a far post run, opened the scoring nodding a Shannon MacMillan cross from the right flank into the right side of the goal.

The United States' second goal came off a corner kick, which Brazil attempted to clear out, but Lorrie Fair corralled the ball just inside the penalty box. Fair's shot was re-directed by Joy Fawcett for the score.

In the 66th minute, Kristine Lilly sent a pass over the Brazilian defense and into the right side of the box for Cindy Parlow who slid to unleash a cross into the center of the box. Mia Hamm leaped to head the ball into the left corner.

The closing goal of the match came when Foudy threaded a through ball to Hamm beating the Brazil's offside trap. Hamm cut past Brazilian goalkeeper Andreia and fired the ball into the open goal from a tight angle for her 125th career score.

Siri Mullinix recorded her 13th shutout of the year in this match, setting a new U.S. season record. Briana Scurry notched 12 shutouts in both 1998 and 1999.
