Notes:
The play leading to the U.S. goal began when Christie Pearce battled to swipe the ball away from Birgit Prinz and nudge it back to Danielle Slaton, who sent the ball on to Shannon MacMillan on the right flank. With the Germans looking to the ref for a foul on Pearce as Prinz was crumbled on the ground, MacMillan struck the ball on a rope behind the defense to Julie Foudy on the back post. Foudy sent the ball back inside of the right post for the goal.

In the 38th minute while competing to head a German free kick away, Kate Sobrero, already wearing a face mask to protect a broken nose, was sandwiched between a German forward and Siri Mullinix, who was attempting to punch away the ball. Sobrero was knocked unconscious. She left the field under her own pwoer, but was taken to a hospital for precautionary reasons.

The shutout was the 12th of the year for Mullinix equaling Briana Scurry's season record (1998 & 1999).

As Norway (2-1-0) blanked China (1-1-1), 1-0, the U.S. (2-0-1) won the DFB Jubilee Tournament. Host Germany (0-3-0) finished last.

With the victory, the U.S. won all six tournaments it entered in 2000 leading up to the Olympics: Australia Cup, Algarve Cup, U.S. Women's Cup, Pacific Cup, Gold Cup, and DFB Jubilee Tournament.
