In the first match of a U.S. Women's Cup doubleheader Brazil downed Finland, 3-1. Brazil got two goals at the end of the first half, the first from Maicon (Roseli) in the 42nd minute and the second from Roseli (Suzana) in the 45th. Finland got on the board in the 68th minute on an unassisted goal by Susanna Heikari. Roseli, playing in her first match since tearing her ACL in the 1998 U.S. Women's Cup, finished the scoring with her second goal of the game off an assist from Sissi in the 78th minute.
