National Team Highlights
Captained the National Team from 1992-2000.
Retired from the National Team following its final game of 2000.
Member of the 2000 Olympic team, she did not play in the tournament as she was hampered by a knee injury.
Played every minute of the 1999 FIFA Women's World Cup and nailed the opening penalty kick in the shootout in the Final against China.
Took most of 1997 off to have her first child, son Jackson.
Played every minute of the 1996 Olympics and earned the 100th cap of her career in the Final against China.
Played in a National Team record 63 consecutive games from 1993.08.04 until 1996.08.01. She played 3,546 consecutive minutes during that span, faced 19 different opponents and competed in seven different countries.

Professional Highlights
In 2003, played in 15 games, starting 10, and tallied two assists.
Hampered by lesions in her right knee, she played in only nine regular-season matches in 2002, starting six. Came off the bench in the 2002 WUSA semifinals to score the game-winning goal in sudden death overtime against the Atlanta Beat. The Courage went on to win the 2002 WUSA Championship.
Started all 21 matches and played all but 18 minutes in the inaugural 2001 season. Scored two goals. Named Second-Team All-WUSA.
A WUSA founding player, she was allocated to the Carolina Courage.
Collegiate Highlights
Played for the University of North Carolina from 1986-1989 and never lost a collegiate game (89-0-6) as the Tar Heels won four NCAA titles.
Earned Defensive MVP honors at the 1988 NCAA Final Four.
Named a First-Team NSCAA All-American in 1987 and 1988 and a Second-Team NSCAA All-American in 1989.
Named First-Team All-ACC in 1988 and 1989.
Chosen as a Freshman All-American by Soccer America.

Formerly Carla Werden, she married Greg Overbeck, a restaurant owner in the Chapel Hill Restaurant Group, in 1992. They have two children: son, Jackson and daughter, Carson.
Works as an assistant coach at Duke.
